Visit to Cambridge (29 April-4 May, 2013)
12 UA experts (P10, 12-15, 17) attended Cambridge University and Municipality. They heard through lectures delivered by leading British architects: Prof. Koen Steemers “Introduction to UD education in Cambridge”; Prof. Alan Short “Sustainability and Architecture”; Sebastian Macmillan “The IDBE masters course and UD”; David Green “Engineering Department energy initiatives”.
UA partners participated in the meetings with representatives of Cambridge City Council and University delivering presentations: Richard Hales “South Cambs Council: Sustainable Communities”; Simon Payne & Liz Bisset “City Council Sustainability Initiatives”; Diane Haigh “North West Cambridge Developments”. UA trainers visited construction sites guided by Cambridge experts in USD: “Coach tour of southern fringe developments and other locations TBA”; “Tour of Cambridge colleges and city”; “Walking Tour of Sidgwick site and Centre of Mathematical Sciences”; “Walking Tour of City of London Sustainable Architecture”. UA experts visited and worked at University of Cambridge and Department of Architecture Libraries. UA coordinator delivered presentations of SEHUD site developed by KNUCA team.
There was a discussion of SEHUD project issues, USD course methodology & WP2, 3, 4 development & self-developing database of training resources. Collaborative development of structures of course units (course books & CD) and selection of materials for Modules 1, 2, 4 took place within teamwork mode.
