Zaragoza TEMPUS meeting (3-6 June, 2014)
EU and UA partners met at University of Saragossa (UZA) for collaborative development of SEHUD project. Visit was interesting and efficient. UZA authorities in International Relations (Vice-chancellor Regina Lazaro and Prof. Jose Neira) opened official part of the meeting. Director of School of Engineering and Architecture Rafael Bilboa and Dean of Architecture, Coordinator of UZA Tempus SEHUD Javier Monclus made presentation of the Department of Architecture. Maria Gracia Folli (SEHUD Coordinator) and Tatiana Sergeyeva (SEHUD UA Universities Coordinator) introduced key issues of SEHUD project development. UZA team (Javier Monclus, Carlos Labarta, Belinda Lopez and Carmen Diez) made presentations of urban materials for sharing with SEHUD team. Special presentation of Content Development for each Course Unit with particular regard to the contribution of EU partners was organized.
EU supervisor of Module 1 “City as an open System” Sebastian Macmillan (IDBE Cambridge) made his brilliant presentation in distance mode with the assistance of John Barber (King’s College, Cambridge).
Supervisor of Module 2 “Heritage protection for saving city identity” Nora Lombardini (POLIMI Milan) delivered her methodology in distance format too.
Great interest was aroused by UZA professors’ development of the Module “Modern approaches & technologies in city development”. Presentation in methodological approach to USD course development made by Professor Maria Gracia Folli (POLIMI Milan) as well as development of Module “Visual communications in an urban environment” made by UA Professor Sergey Chechelnitskiy were characterized by original approach. PPT presentations and discussions among colleagues were very informative and constructive.
Dissemination strategy was planned for promoting SEHUD Profile with the help of EU partners’ dynamic PPT presentations, YOUTUBE video, linking SEHUD Website with social media (Twitter – Facebook). Parallel range of meetings with POLIMI coordination team took place. They updated Financial Reporting of SEHUD funds, explained next steps to request for the second Installment to the Agency, confirmed next meetings in schedule. UZA partners provided fascinating program of visits around Saragossa: Expo Area, Ebro Riverside, Eutopia building, Aljaferia, Aragon Parliament, Torre del Agua (accompanied by author Arch. Enrique de Teresa), Caixaforum and city sightseeing.
