On the 1st day of the SEHUD project meeting in Milan we opened a SEHUD project workshop exhibition. It presents the projects of Ukrainian students from 5 Ukrainian universities that were trained with the innovative curriculum of the SEHUD project. The projects deal with rehabilitation of impoverished urban areas of Ukrainian cities. The exhibition is open till 18th of September.
Prof. Maria Grazia Folli gave a lecture on the importance of architectural and design education within POLIMI culture. Then we summarized SEHUD project activities and achievements, and concluded the results of the SEHUD pilot phase.
IT specialist Vladyslav Kamynin presented a self-developing knowledge base that is to keep all the materials contributed by the consortium experts. After that there was a presentation by Ms. Anna Rita Ancora concerning financial matters.
DAY 2 – 16th of September
In the morning we had a presentation by Matteo Moscatelli. It was called "Milan: work in progress" and focused on urban regeneration, changes of the skyline, EXPO 2015, and the future of Milan.
After that we visited a winged tower "Palazzo Lombardia" in Milan. It is the new home to Lombardy's (one of the twenty administrative regions of Italy in the north-west of the country) regional government. It consists of curvilinear eight-floor buildings and a 39-floor (161.3 m high) central tower. A total of 2,850 people work in this building.
In the afternoon we had a visit to the Riccardo Catella Foundation. It sponsors community and cultural projects to promote excellent practices in architecture and territorial planning. We got to see one of the districts that they worked on – Porta Nuova Smart Community. The core values of the Porta Nuova are: sustainability, technology and innovation, environment and energy efficiency, public spaces and urban green, sustainable mobility and social enterprises, focusing on well-being and people's mood.
DAY 3 – 17th of September
On the third day of the SEHUD meeting in Milan we had a training session provided by FORMAPER (the training Agency of the Milan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Craft and Agriculture). Silvia Valentini, head of SME and Lifelong Training department, presented the organization, its mission and methodology of training for SME's. Gabriele Migliavacca, a representative of Innovhub Stazioni Sperimentali per l’Industria, gave a lecture about R&D Policies in Biomass Combustion for Domestic Heating. Also we got to meet with the business sector representatives (ABITARE CO., MR Real Estate) to exchange experience and develop the SEHUD partners net.
DAY 4 – 18th of September
Today the whole day was devoted to EXPO 2015 in Milan. The core theme of EXPO 2015 is "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life". The theme significantly embraces problems connected to the sustainable development. In addition, the sight itself was designed by internationally-renowned architects with principles of sustainability in mind.
